For the 2025/26 academic year the University of Pavia will offer the Joint Master Degree in European Languages, Cultures and Societies in Contact (LM-38) with a duration of two years.

The student will receive the diploma from each of the Universities where he will attend a semester and take the exams. The award of the degree depends on the accreditation status of the Joint Master Degree in each partner country. The Universities involved in this degree programme are the 8 EC2U Institutions:

• University of Salamanca (Spain),
• University of Coimbra (Portugal),
• University of Iaşi (Romania),
• University of Jena (Germany),
• University of Pavia (Italy),
• University of Poitiers (France),
• University of Turku (Finland),
• University of Linz (Austria).

Academic Offer:

The Joint Master Degree in European Languages, Cultures and Societies in Contact (LM-38) has one curriculum and the student must choose to attend each semester in one of the seven EC2U Universities in order to personalize her/his Joint Master Degree study plan.

The uniqueness of this Master is “à la carte” courses from the list provided by each Institution described in details in the European Languages, Cultures and Societies in Contact Handbook. The same University can be chosen for a maximum of 2 semesters, therefore students must study at least in 2 Consortium Institutions. At the University of Pavia, by national law the number of positions for non-EU students is 2. Places that are not filled by non-EU students will be filled by EU applicants.

Selection Criteria and Procedure:

Admission to the programme is selective. The candidates will be ranked on a scale of 100 points. The selection criteria will be assessed based on:

• Transcript of Records
• Knowledge of two foreign languages at the B2 level among the following: Finnish, French,
  German, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian, Spanish, English (the last one for Turku only).
• A knowledge of English as a “lingua franca” is also required
• European Standard Curriculum Vitae

Application deadline:

The application periods for the academic year 2025/2026 are as follows:

• 1st call: >From 17th April to 29th April 2025 (for EU and non-EU students)
• 2nd call: >From 29th May to 19th June 2025 (for EU students only)
• 3rd call: >From 21st August to 31st August 2025 (for EU students only)
