Description:

The course in Individual and Team Sport Science is designed to equip graduates with a broad sphere of competences in the field of elite and general sports. The course provides graduates with the knowledge and skills required to produce and modernise sports activities for all age groups, with particular reference to high-level sports, in relation to the educational, methodological and technical aspects of the various disciplines.

The curriculum equips students with theoretic and methodological competences in optimal lifestyle management for sportsmen and women. Graduates also possess the managerial skills required to deal with the preparation, coordination and management of sporting events.

The most pertinent career opportunities open to graduates are:

  • management and assistance in the contexts of scientific projects and facilities used for sports;
  • training adolescents in a range of competitive and non-competitive sports;
  • training adults and the elderly in a range of sports, including competitive sports;
  • the application of functional evaluation methodologies and techniques for sports activities in all individuals, irrespective of age, gender and level of athletic training;
  • the planning and organisation of sports activities, also through the use of specific equipment and facilities;
  • the organisation and coordination of competitive and amateur sports events;
  • the management and promotion of scientific research applied to motor activities, both publicly and privately;
  • the running, management, planning and coordination of sports activities, from the recreational to the professional.

Application and admission: Open with entry requirements examination.

To be admitted, students must be in possession of a medical certificate for competitive sports. Candidates who do not do sports must present the following certificate, in accordance with Italian law: “Certificato di idoneità alla pratica sportiva: certificazione rilasciata ad atleta non avente la qualifica di agonista, ex art. 4 D.M. 24/04/2013, per il quale sono stati eseguiti tutti gli accertamenti diagnostici previsti dallo stesso decreto ministeriale” (“Certificate of eligibility for sporting activities: certification issued to an athlete who does not have the status of an agonist, pursuant to art. 4 of the Ministerial decree 24/04/2013, for which all the diagnostic tests required by the same decree have been carried out”).

In any case, the adequacy of the candidates’ preparation will be verified through an interview, in order to evaluate the basic knowledge of Anatomy of the locomotor system, Exercise physiology, and Training theory and methodology.

Within the European Erasmus+ programme, students enrolled on the Master's degree programme in Individual and Team Sport Science can receive part of their training in one of nine partner universities in Spain, Portugal, France, Austria, Norway and Poland. Those who wish to spend a period of study abroad will have two to twelve months available per study cycle.

Please note that some Universities may request a language certificate as a selection prerequisite.

During the period abroad, you will have the opportunity to attend classes pertaining to your own curriculum as well as optional courses linked to the geographical area of the partner University (sea water sports, sailing, winter sports, mountain sports).

As an alternative, you can join an Erasmus+ research programme, actively participating in research projects and collecting material that you could use for your final thesis. Moreover, you could spend your traineeship hours at centres affiliated with the host university, further enriching your experience.

The exams passed and the corresponding credits earned abroad will be converted according to the ECTS / CFU conversion tables, in compliance with the regulations in force in the host university country, and integrated into your study plan.

Mandatory for at least 70% of lessons
