Description:

The Computer Science Engineering MSc programme will equip students with knowledge of algorithms, performance and quality of IT services, communications systems protocols and architectures, a safe and secure design of hardware and software components of embedded and distributed systems, and also to combine a scientific perspective with the practical engineering approaches.

Advanced and emerging future technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence methods are in special focus. As a basic objective, the students will be prepared to be able to continue their studies in postgraduate schools, such as in the Multidisciplinary Doctoral School of Engineering Sciences at Széchenyi István University.

Programme educational objectives:

The Computer Science Engineering MSc programme at Széchenyi István University is designed to equip graduates with the knowledge, skills and attributes necessary for successful careers in the field of computer science and software development. Our programme educational objectives (PEOs) are as follows:

  • PEO#1: Students will have a high-level knowledge built on a strong foundation of natural and technical sciences related to the fields of Computer Science and Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) in order to enable them to understand, design, implement and integrate complex, heterogeneous networked systems;
  • PEO#2: Students will able to understand, design, implement, integrate and manage complex systems;
  • PEO#3: Students will have the knowledge to coordinate and perform research and development tasks for IT purposes;
  • PEO#4: Students will stay updated with contemporary changes, engage in lifelong learning.

Student Outcomes:

The programme will provide students with in-depth knowledge and skills in algorithms, IT-service performance and quality, communication system protocols and architectures, and the secure design of hardware and software for embedded and distributed systems.

By integrating scientific perspectives with practical engineering approaches, the curriculum emphasizes advanced and emerging technologies, with a particular focus on Artificial Intelligence methods. Graduates of the programme will have:

  1. The ability to apply mathematical logic to solve complex engineering problems.
  2. The ability to develop effective programming solutions.
  3. The ability to work with formal languages in computer science applications.
  4. The ability to analyse and interpret data using data science techniques.
  5. The ability to apply coding theory to enhance information processing.
  6. The ability to utilize soft computing methods for intelligent problem-solving.
  7. The ability to engage in research and innovation in multidisciplinary engineering fields.

Job opportunities:

Our graduate students can successfully find employment in the areas of software systems development and in the application, integration, operation and customization of user IT systems. In addition, the graduate may choose a career in research or higher education, the latter being closely linked to the Doctoral School of Multidisciplinary Engineering Sciences at Széchenyi István University. 

PhD programmes offered by our University. Some potential positions might be: Development Engineer, System Administrator, System Designer, Software Application Designer, System Organizer or Product Manager. Graduates with this diploma could initially achieve managerial positions at the lower and middle levels of the corporate hierarchy. Our graduates have typically found positions with the following companies: Audi, Bosch, IBM, Telekom, SAP, Synthesis, Pentatrade and other R&D and software development companies.

The diploma obtained is recognised as equivalent in the European Union.
