Today, the need to save energy is common knowledge. But how could we improve the existing technologies to make energy consumption more efficient? How to reduce energy prices making the goods and services more affordable? How to ensure access to energy to all the people without harming the environment? While studying MSc Energy Technologies and Economics at KTU you will analyse similar dilemmas and gain the skills and knowledge needed to tackle the most pressing problems of the contemporary world.

During your studies, you will learn to develop complex, more efficient energy systems, you will gain interdisciplinary knowledge on energy production, distribution, economics, development of the energy sector. Through research projects, you will learn how to make economically sound engineering decisions and to be able to effectively solve various problems in the energy sector. The knowledge gained in the master’s Energy Technologies and Economics study programme will help you address long-term energy development planning, regulation challenges. Your studies will equip you with risk and need forecasting skills, and competencies to reach informed and creative solutions to the problems of the energy sector.

The comprehensive interdisciplinary knowledge of the technologies and economics of energy generation, transmission, distribution, and effective use make the graduates of this study programme a valuable asset to any company in the energy sector. The professionals, who can control electrical power engineering objects and reach economically reasonable engineering solutions, who can conduct research and provide solutions for sustainable development of electric power industry are in high demand in the global job market.

  • Energy: resources, production, transmission, distribution, use and accumulation

  • Economics: economic analysis and evaluation, management of finances, regulation and control of energy markets, accounting and management

  • Energy systems: structure, sources, management and planning, reliability, security, strategy

  • Analysis of systems: composition and structure of systems, multi-criteria tasks, imitation modelling, the theory of usefulness

 

Funding opportunities

All international students automatically become candidates to receive the Scholarship for International Students, which is assigned for first-year Bachelor or Master students with strong academic records and motivation.

The residents of European Union countries and the global citizens of Lithuanian origin can apply for state-funded study places. This means that all the applicants, who fall into one of the aforementioned categories, will participate in the general admission’s competition for state-funded study places and get the chance to study free of charge, depending on their admission score.

Campus life

The main KTU Campus is within walking distance from the city centre. In the campus, university sports halls and courts, dormitories, shops and recreational areas are all nearby. KTU boasts the active student community, with 6 art societies and over 20 students’ organisations. Our students can choose from 100 weekly sports classes, and join one of 20 sports teams. All of this is free of charge.

Over 40 thousand students study in Kaunas, and of these, around 10% are international students. Lush parks, lively squares, cosy cafes and buzzing cultural life make Kaunas attractive not only as a travel destination but also as a place to live. In 2022, Kaunas will become a European Capital of Culture.
