Description:

It is safe to say that technology and innovation are the driving forces behind the progress of humankind.

However, for that we need creative and well-versed engineering professionals who would understand more than plain terminology. Are you one of them – interested in chemistry, innovation, technology, and are constantly thinking of new, original ideas? Then BSc in Chemical Technology and Engineering at KTU is a perfect choice for you!

The demand for chemical engineering specialists is never diminishing and their work is valued because they are industrial innovators who are capable of designing processes and managing technological systems. As humanity’s need for new products is always growing, skilled chemical engineers are needed to analyze the trends in demand for chemical products, expand the knowledge and influence public opinions in the field of engineering.

Programme Overview:

The curriculum for Chemical Technology and Engineering program is designed to combine theoretical knowledge with technological skills, in-depth expertise of designing and carrying out industrial processes, and laboratory practice.

To cater to the interests and abilities of future graduates, the program is tailored to offer specializations in technologies of inorganic or organic materials. Modern laboratories with the newest equipment are available for students to uses and practice hands-on skills for modelling and designing processes.

According to job market statistics, the employment rate for chemical engineers is one of the highest – up to 70% of them are employed right after graduation.

Values:

  • The junction between science and industry: You will acquire the practical skills needed for the successful employment in the industry as well as fundamental knowledge useful to start a career of scientific researcher.
  • Good knowledge of engineering processes and product analysis: You will be able to develop and produce significant inorganic and organic chemistry products.
  • Employability is one of the highest in the market: Due to the high demand for chemical engineers, employability remains one of the highest in the region.
  • Modern laboratories and equipment are used in the study process: Gain significant practical skills while working in laboratories and learn how to model and design processes using chemical process simulation software.
  • Internationality: Meet students from other countries while studying here and take the opportunity yourself to go abroad for studies or practices.

After graduating, a student will be able to:

  • apply the knowledge of chemical and physical phenomenon (material and energy balance, chemical and physical equilibrium, chemical kinetics etc.) to identify and solve various complex problems of chemical engineering;
  • design and model products, processes and apparatus for different fields of chemical engineering – petroleum, polymer, silicate, inorganic fertilizer, textile etc.;
  • plan and carry out research of products and processes by employing modern analytical equipment;
  • model chemical engineering processes using Aspen HYSYS chemical process simulator.

Student will gain competences of:

  • practical skills in experiments, analysis and evaluation of experimental results in accordance with the study program;
  • application of chemical compounds according to their physical and chemical properties;
  • knowledge of fundamental principles of material and energy balances, chemical equilibrium and kinetics in engineering processes;
  • knowledge and management of technologies in various fields of chemistry: petroleum, polymer, textile, inorganic fertilizer, binding materials etc.

You may become:

  • Chemical Engineer
  • Design Engineering Specialist
  • Laboratory Analyst
  • Expert scientist
