The MSc in International Hospitality Management is a two-year plus internship, full-time double degree program delivered exclusively in English. It provides you with a broad view of the hospitality industry, general management knowledge and specialist know-how as it pertains to the global industry.
The internship period allows you to capitalize on the program’s network, and gain the tangible work experience future employers look for when hiring managers.
LEARN TO LEAD THROUGH INNOVATION
To establish and maintain leadership in your market, it is imperative to stay one step ahead of the competition, and this is why each course is taught with a focus on innovation. You will benefit from emlyon business school’s maker pedagogy which will help you develop the capacity to identify opportunities within multiple markets, to create new combinations of services for a diverse group of customers, and to turn them into tangible value through action and experimentation. Combined with Institut Lyfe’s (formerly Institut Paul Bocuse) strength to integrate tradition with modernity, innovation and research, you will develop the skills to set yourself apart as a leader in global hospitality.
MANAGE AND CULTIVATE DIVERSITY
Diversity is a key element of the hospitality industry, and omnipresent in any managerial role. Whether it concerns your clients, your employees, or your colleagues, they are likely to represent very diverse backgrounds and nationalities. Sharing your learning experience with students that hail from different backgrounds and represent various nationalities will help you develop the intercultural skills that are essential to your success in the global hospitality industry.
TWO TRACKS FOR TWO DIFFERENT BACKGROUNDS:
In the first semester, the program adjusts to your academic background through two tailored learning paths that reinforce essential skills:
Business Track (for students coming from hospitality, tourism, or events): You’ll deepen your business expertise with courses in Strategic HRM, Team & Leadership, Marketing in a Digital Age, Negotiation & Sales, and Accounting & Finance, all within a hospitality setting.
Hospitality Track (for students from fields like business, law, humanities, or engineering): You’ll gain core hospitality knowledge through Introduction to the Hospitality Industry, Hotel Services & Operations Management, F&B Management, Hospitality Marketing, Consumer Behavior, and Financial Analysis (Revenue Management).
These courses will complement mandatory fundamental courses. This tailor-made approach, fully in line with emlyon business school’s early maker pedagogy and Institut Lyfe’s determination to best prepare its students for a career in hospitality management, allows you to capitalize on your strengths and pinpoints the areas of expertise you must improve to become an hospitality industry expert.
