As "the university by the sea" University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven has a maritime profile which can be traced back to an education tradition with over one hundred years' history. The maritime characteristic is reflected especially in the close cooperation with the industry in the field of teaching and research. We are proud that we are distinguished by an application-oriented and practice-oriented education. Within the framework of the contest of "Excellent Teaching" which was launched by Culture Minister Conference and Association for the Promotion of Sciences and Humanities in Germany (Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft), it was confirmed in 2009 that with our concept to strengthen the teaching at the university "GUUGLE - Gut und gerne Lernen und Lehren" which means to learn and teach gladly and well, we could convince the international jury and bring an important award to Bremerhaven. These further developed activities are so successful that it was decided in 2011 that they are supported by the Federal Ministry of Research and Sciences for 4 more years with approximate 2 million Euros. The concept of "Keine Qual" (integrated and sustainable development concept for increased quality in learning and teaching at the Hochschule Bremerhaven ) is built similarly to GUUGLE and ensures outstanding teaching. The teaching quality is high; it is no wonder that our graduates usually can find attractive jobs within a short time.
