The goal of the program is to educate teachers for public education systems worldwide in a field they have already masterd in a two semester long program. Building on field-specific knowledge this certificate provides applicants general educational and psychological competences as well as field specific methodology, offering teaching practicals in different venues of public education, aiming at developing teaching attitutdes, knowledge and skills.
This program offers a teacher certificate (Post Graduate Certificate in Education, PGCE) in an academic period as short as two semesters. Our ideal candidates already have a graduate /master degree in the field of Teacher of Philosophy and a command of English enabling them to participate in our program. Based on the high quality field specific (disciplinary) knowledge gained prior to our program we concentrate on the educational applicablity of the already gained competences. Both in theory and practice our goal is to arm our candidates with general pedagogical and psychological as much as field specific methodological attitudes, knowledge, and skills neccesarry in the reality of schools worldwide. Throughout the first semester of our program offers theoretical emphasis whereas during the second semester teacher candidates may practice teaching activities in related bachelor programs of our university run in English.
Although the teaching profession is facing challenges worldwide it still is a widely known and flexible career path. Our graduates may start teaching at different scenarios of public and private education in the field of their expertise.
Also, at the „Education and Society” Doctoral School of Education Sciences at the University of Pecs graduates may continue their studies in a PhD program focusing the subfields of Theories of Education and Subject Specific Methodologies; Philosophy and History of Education; or the Sociology of Education.
