We offer flexible learning. You can study for the MA either over 1 year full-time or 2 years part-time. There is also a 2-year part-time block weekend option, where you study for the course over 8-9 weekends a year. This is suitable if you cannot get away from work during the week. Further, there is an enhanced 15-month version if you want a more graduated approach to undertaking study, or an 18-month variety if you wish to incorporate a placement into the course
The core modules in the course provide a platform for you to acquire knowledge, develop critical thinking and apply theory to practice. You will learn threshold concepts and models, develop people management and development skills, understand the principles of professional and ethical practice, and explore tools for influencing others.
You will be able to select from a wide range of optional modules to further your interests or career needs. There may be a particular path you wish to follow, for example, a management- orientated route with a focus on reward, performance and resourcing, or an employment- focused route, concentrating on employment law and employee relations. Equally, if you want to nurture a broader and more generic approach to HR, you will find that our modules are sufficiently varied to enable you to achieve this.
During the final stage of your course, you will be required to undertake a dissertation project on topic of interest to you.
