The Master of Science in Economics is a one-year Master programme, oriented towards students with broad interests in social and scientific matters who are capable of critical and creative thinking.
The Master of Science in Economics (ME) is a one year master's programme, oriented towards students with broad interests in social and scientific matters who are capable of critical and creative thinking. This programme offers you a theoretical framework and an in-depth training in economic theory and econometrics, allowing you to provide well-grounded answers to socio-economic questions.
EEA nationals and non-EEA nationals who reside in Belgium under a valid residence permit can follow less than 60 ECTS per academic year and accordingly spread their studies in several years. This possibility needs to be discussed with a study career consultant. Note that there are no part-time, evening or weekend courses organized for this category of students.
The programme offers you a theoretical framework and an in-depth training in economic theory, econometrics and applied economics which allows you to provide well-grounded answers to socio-economic questions. You should have an interest in the dynamics of economy and society, the ability to analyse, synthesise and interpret information. The programme consists of a common core of three programme units (Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Econometrics) and a master's thesis. You complete your programme by choosing courses out of the elective groups.
As a graduate of MSc in Economics, you will be qualified for employment in a variety of contexts and positions, including government research centres, professional associations, large enterprises, international organisations, government departments, public institutions, international organisations, financial services, companies and social organisations. This expertise and flexibility qualifies you for employment in a variety of fields such as policy development, problem solution and implementation, external communication, journalism, and public relations.
