Description:

Built on a solid foundation in structural design and structural innovation, this programme will equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to become a civil engineer. Through the choice of materials, numerical simulation and construction methods you will be able to design structures with a specific purpose that are fully compliant with environmental, legal and structural rules. You will be able to translate a project from concept to realisation, arriving at a structural design that meets the relevant criteria of strength, serviceability, energy efficiency, durability, etc.

About the programme:

This master's programme endows students with the broader, advanced, scientific knowledge and skills required for success within the professional sphere, whilst placing a particular focus on the science of civil engineering. You will examine the engineering behind the construction of buildings and infrastructure; explore the design process and understand the technical execution and latest innovations.  This process is driven and supported by technological developments, such as new materials, building information modelling (BIM), heating, ventilation, and air conditioning technologies (HVAC).

Programme Master of Civil Engineering Technology:

In this one-year programme you are required to take six compulsory courses and choose 18 ECTS of elective courses. You will also complete a professional competence module in the form of an internship and work on a scientific project as part of one of our research groups, or in an approved workplace. The programme culminates in the completion of a master’s thesis.

Student profile:

  • You are fascinated by science and technology and want to put your theoretical knowledge into practice.

  • You want to deepen your technical knowledge of building materials, design processes and implementation aspects.

  • You want to take on construction challenges but with an eye for sustainability, quality and economic aspects.

  • You want to function in an innovative and ethical way within our technological society.

Career perspectives:

Degree holders are able to apply their newly acquired scientific knowledge to a wide variety of contexts, opening up a broad spectrum of professional possibilities.

Depending on your interest, your engineering profile can lead you to careers across the industry from technological expert to boardroom executive, performing a wide range of functions, including design, calculation, consultancy, sales, quality inspection and research.
