The global consumption of electricity and electronic devices is constantly increasing and the manner in which electricity is produced, transmitted, distributed, and consumed is undergoing a fundamental change. The growth of electric vehicles and renewable energy production in the coming decades will only further this development.
On this master’s programme, you will gain deep technical competence and a sustainable mindset, preparing you for a dynamic and rewarding career in the electric power engineering industry. You will learn to design the electric power systems of the future with sustainability as a key focus, solving pressing challenges in how electricity is produced, transmitted, distributed and consumed, including wind and solar power or smart grids.
You will gain practical experience through lab work in combination with computer exercises, and have close contact with leading companies in Swedish industry through guest lectures and study visits. You will also have the opportunity to carry out master’s thesis work directly with our industrial partners. You will also address the new opportunities brought by recent advancements in information and communication technology, for example within the design and operation of electric power systems.
The fundamental areas covered in this programme include electric power systems and distribution, high voltage and power electronics system transmission, electric drives and more. Elective courses cover topics such as wind and solar power, electric vehicles, smart grids, renewables, battery management systems, HVDC and much more. Students on this programme will combine deep theoretical knowledge with practical knowhow.
The future is electric. Will you drive it or be driven?
