Take your next step towards becoming a versatile professional Dance Artist. You’ll enjoy the unique experience of learning within the superb environment of Déda, the region’s dedicated dance house, on a highly practical and physical course.

Skills for your career

The course will provide you with skills for your career as a professional Dance Artist, concentrating on being a performer, choreographer and dance teacher. You'll learn in Déda - a creative centre for Dance, Contemporary Circus and Outdoor Work in the East Midlands – connecting locally, nationally and internationally. You'll have opportunities to present your own work in Déda Theatre, with full professional technical support and mentoring.

Déda's professionally equipped studios and new purpose-built facilities will provide the ideal environment for students to engage with the dance profession through teaching, producing and residencies.

Alongside this, Déda's sister company Déda Producing will provide opportunities to work on a wide range of events, from large outdoor spectaculars to more intimate productions presented at regional venues.

100% of students said that they were satisfied with the overall quality of this course according to the National Student Survey 2019.

This specialist BA (Hons) Dance degree will develop you as a high quality technical Dance Artist for performance, entertainment, theatre or film. Four key strands create the signature of the course:

  • the development of knowledge and understanding of choreography
  • Technique class to enhance physical skills – Including Contemporary, Ballet, Yoga , Pilates and Acrobatics & Aerial.
  • how to develop excellent performance skills in a wide range of contexts
  • the study of dance historically and sociologically including the process of producing dance.
