Interaction designers are to the digital economy what product designers are in the old economy. On the basis of psychological and marketing theories, they gather insights into customer needs and beliefs and integrate those findings into the software development process via experience maps, user scenarios, mockups or other suitable tools.
With a trained grasp of design concepts and practical implementation competence, you will be responsible for the look, feel and user-friendliness of the software you are working on. You will be able to create low-fidelity sketches and pixel-perfect mockups, validate different designs and style approaches by conducting split A/B tests and measuring product performance. Because you will be the joining bolt in a team of marketers, product managers, coders and other stakeholders, you will master an empathetic and cooperative style of communication. As an interaction designer, you don’t just make things that work look pretty. You are responsible for the alignment with customer interests and therefore the success of your digital project.
