The master degree programme in Historical Sciences is designed to provide students with an in-depth historical awareness, with a particular focus on the specific concerns and phases of the tradition of historical studies.
The goal is to encourage students to develop a sense of the complex historical basis that lies behind all the phenomena, processes and structures that make up reality, and the capacity to critically evaluate the various analyses of that reality, both past and current.
Historical Sciences graduates are equipped with the knowledge and competences required to work as critical agents in professional establishments which require a solid humanistic training, with particular reference to historical study. As a result of the training and skills they develop, graduates are qualified to operate in all fields that call for the capacity to coherently analyse, classify and evaluate complex information, tackling wide, complex problems and finding suitable solutions.
In particular, upon completion of associated professional qualifications and/or related competitions, i.e. by acquiring further specific technical competences, Historical Sciences graduates are qualified to pursue the following professions: historian, political sciences specialist, writer, editor of critical and didactic texts in the humanities sphere (particularly historic study), historic sciences researcher, museum, library, archival curator, humanities teacher in first and second-level secondary schools, history and philosophy teacher in second- level secondary schools, and tourist guide.
