Develop the critical knowledge and crucial skills to assess pollution sources and pathways, manage its impact as well as understand pollution problems and provide evidence base to support decision and policymaking.
Protecting the Earth’s environment has never been more important in the survival of the human species and the interdepending ecosystems. Today’s environment is under countless threats from the effects of pollution. Increased awareness of issues linked to rising pollution levels has culminated in a series of key questions:
Environmental practitioners are required to address these questions through applying appropriate assessment and controls as part of the broader remit to preserve, restore and develop a sustainable world for future generations.
The global sustainability agenda is gaining significant momentum and environmental practitioners are increasingly expected to be able to effectively manage environmental pollution alongside other environmental management and sustainability matters.
On this programme, you will develop the critical knowledge and crucial skills to assess pollution sources and pathways, manage its impact as well as understand pollution problems and provide evidence base to support decision and policymaking. These are key initiatives featured in a recent report conducted by The Institute of Environmental Management and Assessments, defining the programme's key areas.
Understand the intricate processes of conducting fieldwork, analysing the results in our very own state-of-the-art laboratories. The residential will last one week, helping you to complete a number of modules on the programme as well as gaining real world experience and developing key technical skills. Activities will range from strategic sampling protocols in freshwater and contaminated land as well as the quality assurance aspects of data generation using a range of analytical techniques.
The programme has been designed by an enthusiastic team of environmental science experts and employers in line with professional body requirements. This ensures that teaching is driven by up-to-date developments in the field of pollution management, developing essential practical and academic skills for careers in environmental assessment, remediation and management.
