Our exciting new MA will develop your higher level critical awareness of the concept of childhood, informing your practice and enhancing your professional relationships with children and young people.
If you have already completed an undergraduate course in an education and childhood related subject, or are currently working in the field, this course is a natural next step. It leads to a highly regarded masters qualification which is invaluable for any professional intending to work with children and young people aged 0-19.
Our MA Childhood applies a range of disciplines and narratives from psychology, anthropology, law, sociology, history, health and education to investigate childhood from historical and contemporary perspectives.
By focusing on the contested nature of childhood, you will explore how our childhood is shaped by factors such as social, cultural, political and economic conditions.
You will critically consider children’s agency and their positions in relation to power, policy, practice and provision. Scrutinising research from across the world, you will also deepen your appreciation of the differences in experiences of childhood globally.
