Become a 3D printing and Additive Manufacturing specialist on this accredited masters degree. It will prepare you for a career as a designer, manufacturing engineer or engineering manager.
Additive manufacturing is an emerging advanced manufacture technology, sometimes referred to as 3D printing. Derby and the East Midlands are dominated by employment in advanced engineering and related industries, but there is a global lack of specialised graduates who can work in supply chain companies.
This online Advanced Materials and Additive Manufacturing MSc offers a unique blend between design and materials and manufacturing application. There are several pathways available which support a range of job roles; For design engineers interested in using Advanced Materials in their products, understanding applications and design optimisation; For those that are interested in integrating Additive Manufacturing in to business operations supported by effective use of data a visualisation to support a business case and identify the turning points between traditional manufacturing and additive manufacturing. While the programme is most suited for those from a mechanical or manufacturing background, we welcome enrolment from product design, physical sciences and other analytic disciplines.
If you come from a non-engineering discipline, you may be required to undertake the Introduction to Materials and Additive Manufacturing module to fully prepare you for this MSc programme. If this is the case, you will need to add another £980 to your course fee.
This degree has been accredited by the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM³) under licence from the UK regulator, the Engineering Council. This accreditation is a mark of assurance that the degree meets the standards set by the Engineering Council in the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC).
Obtaining this accredited degree will provide you with a qualification recognised by employers internationally. It will provide you with the underpinning knowledge required as evidence in your application for chartered engineer (CEng) status with IOM³.
As a student on this accredited course, you will also benefit from a discounted student membership with IOM³, giving you access to a range of resources, including career development advice, online magazines and journals, and professional networking opportunities.
We work with industrial partners to solve problems with applied research. The MSc programme draws on this expertise to bridge the gap between research and application informing your learning. By combining study in Additive Manufacturing with Advanced Materials, you will gain the fundamental understanding required to meet the technical challenges in the future, producing custom designs to order, featuring bespoke material properties.
Through studying this online masters degree, you will gain extensive subject knowledge, giving you greater confidence when managing people and undertaking technical leadership roles in the fields of Advanced Materials, Additive Manufacturing and their applications.
