This Honours Degree offers in-depth study of Archaeology. At IT Sligo our staff are engaged in a number of significant archaelogical investigations and they bring this expertise and experience to bear in this honours degree programme.
So, if you have an interest in how people lived in the past, like working outdoors and would enjoy working in a challenging and rewarding field, this is an ideal course for you.
The unique nature of this course emphasises scientific archaeological techniques, the interpretation of archaeological remains and applied field skills with lots of practical experience.
The course covers in detail the past 10,000 years of human activity in Ireland, ranging from the nomadic hunter-gatherers of the Mesolithic Era through to the industrial archaeology of the 18th and 19th Centuries within a wider European context.
The fourth year includes a variety of modules designed to improve students’ interpretive and analytical skills through both seminars and self directed learning.
